Important Note: Individual Sports Poomsae (Age Divisions: 10 years old and over Black Belts ONLY) and World Class Sparring (Age Divisions: 12-14, 15-17, 18-32) will report directly to Ring #1 to minimize the waiting period. Please pay attention to the announcements during the ceremony.

TOURNAMENT

Referees: All referees must assemble within the Valencia High School no later than 8:00 am the day of the tournament. Please contact Master Arnold Chung at email: EliteTKD1@hotmail.com or phone (714) 723-6408, fax (510) 879-0347 for details or to express your interest. 

VIP’s: VIP Badges will be available the day of the tournament with registration form.

Coaches: Coach Passes will be available the day of the tournament and are dependent on the number of participants per school that registers for the tournament (One pass for every 10 students per school). Otherwise, it will be $25 per coach pass. Passes must be worn by all coaches on the gym floor. Coach Passes may be revoked at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

 Coach’s Dress code: Coaches are prohibited from wearing jeans, shorts, tank-tops, hat/cap, or slippers while on the arena floor or coaching a competitor. Please follow the official USAT dress code for more details.

Spectators: All spectators (unless a designated VIP, Master, Referee, or Volunteer) must purchase an admission ticket and may not enter the arena floor at any time. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the tournament.

 Competitors: All registrations must be received by October 15, 2017.

General Admissions will be $10. Children 5 and under get in for free.

2017 Elite Taekwondo Championship Competition Rules

**Elite Taekwondo Championship uses competitor’s birth date to determine the age of all competitors.

 

KYOROOGI (SPARRING):

 The current USAT & WTF competition rules will govern this championship.

There is absolutely no head contact for competitors Age 7 & Under (All Belts) and 11 & Under (Color Belt Divisions)

JUNIOR SAFETY RULES (JSR)

Junior Safety Rules will be applied to 8 – 11 YEAR OLD BLACK BELTS, 12 – 17 YEAR OLD BLACK BELTS, & OVER ALL COLOR BELT, and 33 & OVER BLACK BELT DIVISIONS. A head contact producing a minor injury (bruising, abrasion, or bleeding) will result in a one point deduction for the attacker. Excessive head contact resulting in the inability to continue will disqualify the attacker at the discretion of the referee.

Daedo PSS System

World Class divisions 12 – 17 years old will use Daedo PSS system using JSR rules.

Full head contact is allowed for 18 ~32 YEAR OLD BLACK BELTS ONLY with three points being awarded for legal head contact or 4 points for any spinning techniques to the head. Also, will use Daedo PSS System.

Mandatory Equipment:

  • Standard white, official, V-neck TKD uniform (Sparring) in good condition.
  • Official USAT or WTF chest protector with red and blue scoring zones.
  • Official WTF Taekwondo shin protector and forearm protectors.
  • Groin protector (required for males); must be worn inside uniform.
  • Official USAT or WTF head protector and gloves (gloves are only mandatory for World Class).
  • Official WTF Taekwondo mouth guard.
  • Official WTF Taekwondo instep pads.
  • The division for 12-32 YEAR OLD BLACK BELTS Only requires to bring their own E-foot gear

We also remind you that proper personal hygiene (i.e. clean and short nails; clean body and uniform) is a part of competition rules and etiquette.

Weigh-ins: 12-32 Black Belt World class sparring divisions only. From 10:30-12:00 pm at the tournament site.

Awards: 1st, 2nd, and two 3rd place winners in each division will be awarded. However, all competitors 11 years old and under will get medals.

 IMPORTANT NOTE: The tournament director may modify some rules according to the local conditions. They also reserve the right to combine or divide weight categories depending on the size of the group.

 Elite Class Division:

Competitors are required to perform only the Poomsae (form) designated for their specific rank. Scores are based on:

  • Accuracy: correct movement, correct placement of technique, balance
  • Presentation: Strength, speed, rhythm, expression of energy

Authorized Poomsae is those approved by the World Taekwondo Federation: Taeguek 1-8 Jang and black belt Poomsae: Koryo, Keumgang, Taebaek, etc.

Rules:

  • Black belts must demonstrate a form that corresponds with their rank.
  • Spectators and parents will not be allowed on the competition floor during Poomsae competition.
  • No shoes, jewelry, or accessories are allowed. Clean uniforms and belts are required.
  • Open, weapon, and synchronized forms may be performed with or without music.
  • Music and music players must be brought by the competitors themselves. Music and devices will not be provided by the tournament. Please bring your own.
  • Gender and ranks may be combined at the discretion of the tournament director.

Awards:

  • Trophies/Medals will be awarded to all participants 11 and under for regular poomsae, open and weapon. However, medal will be awarded to all participants who complete synchronized forms as seen below in the table.
  • For World Class Poomsae, Pair Poomsae, and Team Poomsae:  1st, 2nd, and Two 3rd place winners in each division will be awarded trophies.

Rules:

Scoring shall be made in accordance with the USAT Poomsae and WTF Competition Rules.

Awards:

1st, 2nd, and two 3rd place winners in each division will be awarded medals.

 Note: Tournament director may modify some rules according to the local condition.
